About PTC training products

The PTC Training and Verification System brings quality and consistency to each discipline the modules cover. It lets you:

  • Establish an objective quality management system
  • Increase productivity while maintaining high quality levels
  • Control direct labour costs through rapid in-house training
  • Develop a strong technical team
  • Provide the technical knowledge base for future growth

Traditional in-lab training

The traditional way to train dental technicians is for the lab owner, manager, or an experienced technician to pass on their knowledge. They do this by standing over the trainee technician as they carry out a task. Over the shoulder training is time-consuming, expensive, and ineffective.

For a start the quality and depth of training vary. No technicians ever receive exactly the same training.

It’s like learning to drive with a member of your family or a friend instead of a trained instructor. Trainees pick up bad habits  and errors such as inefficient procedures and techniques. The quality of the training can only be as good as the skill of the trainer.

The end result is lack of consistent quality and low productivity. Because this way of training is so time consuming, it’s expensive. If something urgent crops up or workload is high, training will be put on a back burner. This leads to limited professional growth. Experienced technicians can find it difficult to get advanced training to enhance their skills.

Why we chose PTC

Well, quite simply because we believe in the products. In fact, to paraphrase an old, TV ad ‘we liked the products so much, we bought into the company’.

Steve first discovered PTC when he was in charge of training at Crown Dental Laboratory. He’s been using the methods in his own lab ever since.

“PTC allows me to train staff quickly and efficiently, and gives me consistent quality. Everyone knows what they should be doing. The system really does make measurable improvements to the skills, quality and consistency levels in the lab.

Its uniform approach means communication between the lab and dentists is improved because we are using the same terminology.

“There are several immediate benefits:

  1. quality standard
  2. control over production
  3. staff enjoy being informed and gaining more knowledge

“It’s excellent for training staff in advanced cosmetic dentistry training. It gets all everyone up to speed with extensive make-over smile design.
